Central to this work is our annual online course, Solidarity, Not Charity, which deepens core SEL skills through a trauma-informed, mutual aid service-learning model that challenges traditional charity frameworks and centers equity, cultural responsiveness, and student empowerment.

Solidarity, Not Charity
Developing and deepening core SEL skills for educators and students is essential to creating an equitable, affirming, and culturally-responsive learning environment. This course addresses SEL competencies using a mutual aid service-learning model that complements and enhances asset-based learning approaches. This is a 3-credit online course offered via the NYC DOE After School Professional Development Program (45 hours of instruction).
